As a working parent, life often feels like a constant balancing act. Between managing professional responsibilities, supporting my children's education, and carving out time for my own learning, the days can be both rewarding and exhausting. My journey has been filled with challenges, growth, and a deep drive to excel in my career while advancing my Microsoft Azure expertise.
Preparing for the AZ-104 exam has been one of the most demanding experiences I’ve faced (I failed the exam multiple times before finally passing). It quickly became clear that this wasn’t just another test. It required more than memorization and demanded a solid, practical understanding of Microsoft Azure, especially in the area of networking. This journey has taught me that success is not just about passing an exam. It is about applying that knowledge to grow professionally and make a meaningful impact in my work.
Finding Time to Study
To prepare effectively for the AZ-104 exam, I had to master time management. One of the most helpful strategies was creating a structured study schedule. I treated my study sessions like essential appointments, blocking out weekday evenings and Saturday mornings specifically for reviewing Azure concepts. I also made the most of small moments throughout the day by reviewing flashcards during lunch breaks or listening to Azure-related podcasts while commuting. These brief but consistent efforts added up over time. Additionally, I involved my family in the process by sharing my certification goals and explaining why the AZ-104 was important for my career. Their encouragement and understanding created a supportive environment that allowed me to stay focused and motivated during my study sessions.
Mastering Microsoft Azure
As I prepared for the AZ-104 exam, I discovered that upskilling is a continuous journey that requires consistent effort and the right resources. One of the most effective methods was engaging with online courses and tutorials. I dedicated time to trusted platforms like Microsoft Learn and YouTube, which offered structured content specifically tailored to the AZ-104. These resources helped me better understand complex topics. Practice exams also played a crucial role in my preparation. By using platforms that provided simulated tests, I was able to identify my weak areas and focus my efforts more effectively. This approach significantly boosted my confidence before the actual exam. Additionally, I created my own Azure environment to gain hands-on experience. Exploring different Azure services in a practical setting not only reinforced my learning but also made the process more engaging and enjoyable.
The Reward of Success
After months of hard work (and ESI trainings), the moment of truth arrived. I received my passing score for the AZ-104, and it was surreal. This score wasn’t just a number (it wasn't high either, 804); it symbolized countless nights of studying, missed family time, and my commitment to self-improvement.
This experience reinforced my belief that with discipline, support, and the right strategies, I can achieve my goals, even as a busy parent.

Moving Forward
Mastering Microsoft Azure does not end with passing a single exam. Building on the foundation I have established is essential for continued growth. One of the most effective ways to stay on track is by setting new goals. Whether it involves pursuing another certification or diving deeper into a specific Azure service, having clear objectives helps maintain momentum. I also make it a point to keep learning by regularly revisiting Azure resources. This helps me stay up to date with the latest features and industry trends. Another powerful strategy is teaching others. Sharing knowledge not only supports new learners but also reinforces my own understanding. This approach is especially important in my role as a Microsoft Certified Trainer. Finally, I embrace change. Technology evolves quickly, and staying open to continuous learning not only enhances my skills but also helps my family adapt to the digital world.
To anyone navigating a similar path, do not lose hope. With dedication, a clear plan, and the right resources, mastering Microsoft Azure is absolutely achievable. Here is to all of us managing multiple responsibilities, remember, you are stronger than you think.
